It is around 25~35-millimeter-long when spreading its wings. The upper side of wings of males is uniformly jade green with thin black edge surrounded. The upper side of wings of females is dark brown with orange big-ring-shape patterns along the upper side of hind wings.
The butterflies emerge three to four times a year and usually inhabit in sunny grass near hills or mountains. They suck nectar from various flowers and sometimes drink water from swamp. They lay their eggs one by one in a flower bud or stem of cheder vetch, their food plant, and survive winter as eggs.
