It is around 12~29-millimeter-long. The size of each individual varies greatly. It is the biggest among broad-nosed weevils (diaprepes abbreviatus) in Korea. The entire body is mixed with black ans dark brown colors with pockmarks on the surface. It is partly covered with grayish brown powder, and its elytra have small black spots scattered.
They do harm to pine and are sometimes transferred with lumber used as packing materials for import and export. They tend to move towards wound parts of crown and molasses trap. They are usually observed in barks of dead trees.
