  • form

    It is around 25~35-millimeter-long. The body is long and flat with no gloss. They have light yellowish brown body with one yellow groove on the both sides of the back area of prothorax in yellowish brown color. The end of calcar of tibia of fore legs is crooked outwards, and the first tarsus of hind legs has one to two spurs on the abdomen area. Females have gloss both on the back and abdomen.

    They do harm to trees by nibbling away barks of stems making ring shape. They bite barks near the ground and lay eggs one by one between the barks and the woody parts, up to around 190. The species has recently been invaded from the United States, which has caused huge damage to broad-leaf trees including street trees.
