It is around 14∼15-millimeter-long, and when spreading its wings, it is around 40∼50-millimeter-long. They have light brown body mostly with thorax and upper side of abdomen in dark brown color. The head is wide and brown. The fore wings are light grayish green or brown, and have black and round spots scattered to the two-thirds of the wings. Venation is light brown with beautiful delicate meshes.
They emerge once a year and survive winter as eggs. They feed on juices from trees and make the trees withered and dead as well as their excretion causes sooty mold. According to the existing document, as non-native pests, they invaded Korea in the 1930, after that, they extincted, but they were recently re-invaded from China around 2005.
