It is around 5~6-millimeter-long. Females are bigger than males, and their body is reddish brown, dark brown or black. The entire body is covered with tiny spotty patterns and short grayish yellow find fur. Looking at them from the front, they have well-developed short and wide spurs on both sides of the upper part of shoulders in the back area of prothorax, which sticks out slightly shorter than the edge of shoulders. They have grayish yellow fut tuft and powder-patterned scales at the end of small scutellum.
They usually inhabit in trees near mountains, fields or paddies. Their food plants are willow trees, mulberries, mandarin trees, paper mulberries, persimmon trees, chestnut trees, elm trees, grapevines, Japanese apricot trees and cherry trees.
