It is around 14~27-millimeter-long. It has reddish brown, dark brown or brown body with bronze gloss. The fourth segment of the antenna is the longest and its staring point is yellowish brown. The edge of the back area of prothorax is sharp and there are rarely small millet-like spurs on its surface. The abdomen segment is slender and slightly sticks towards the outer edge of the fore wings. Round-shaped femurs of hind legs are quite big in the middle with sharp spurs. Tibia of hind legs are crooked in a round shape. Imago looks like a bee when it is flying, and larva looks like an ant showing typical protective mimicry.
They inhabit in legumes such as kudzu in the forest or fields. They are insect pests doing harm to various crops including beans, red beans, rice and barley.
