Libellulidae
June to October
Korea, Japan, China and Mongolia
The abdomen and hind wings are around 20~26- and 23~32-millimeter-long respectively. The entire thorax of imagoes newly hatched is yellow and the abdomen is orange. As they are grown, the thorax becomes brown. For males, the entire abdomen becomes red and for females, only the upper part of abdomen is changed to red. There are black stripes on the sides of thorax. The front lines are imperfect and the back ones are thin. The legs are all black and abdomen has black spots on the edges of each segment.
Larvae inhabit in the water with abundant water plants such as lake, puddle or swamp. Imagoes emerge in pond or swamp in low areas around June to July, and then slowly move to higher areas. When the temperature drops, they move back down the mountain, and lay their eggs near water or in the pond.
