Tettigoniidae
July to October
Korea, Japan, China and Russia
It is around 33-millimeter-long. They have fat body in yellowish green or yellowish brown. Its wings are covered with black spots in the middle of them. Fore wings are shorter than the body, and what makes it special is that they have very long antennas.
They inhabit in the mountains and males make a sound being hidden in a thorny bush in the daytime. They are carnivorous by feeding on small insects. Despite well-developed wings, they cannot fly quickly or lightly, but they can jump far enough by using hand legs. Some lay their eggs inside leaves, just like grasshopper species but most lay eggs in the ground. They survive winter as eggs and emerge once a year.
