It is around 27~37mm-millimeter-long. The end of head sticks out, and prothorax is thin and long. Females have one spur on the side of the second abdomen segment. The lower genital plate of males is triangle-shaped with its end sectioned, but that of females has two stings at the end. Fore wings are longer than knees of the hind legs.
They are easily observed in forest, grass or farmlands. They live on rice plants or plant species of the grass family. Females lay around 100 eggs in the 2-centimeter-depth ground, and the clutch is covered with light gelatinized film. They survive winter under the ground as clutch of eggs, and emerge once a year.
