Males and females are around 22~45- and 23~33-millimeter-long respectively. They have lightly brilliant reddish dark brown or blackish brown body. Their front part of head is big with being concavely dug. They have highly developed long and big mandible being crooked downward. Big and small saw-like odontoid process are irregularly mixed inside the big mandible. For small species, their big mandible is short and stright, which looks like different species. Females are relatively tiny body with ellipse in a high back as well as have stipples developed.
Its food plants are oak tree species and growth period is around two to three years. They are usually developed to imagoes in July and tend to move towards lights.
