It is around 55~70-millimeter-long when spreading its wings. They are similar to fabriciana pallescens but distinguishable from the fact that the outside edge on the upper side of hind wings have black stripes, and the outside edge on the lower side of hind wings have silver stripes, which looks like M shape.
The butterflies emerge once a year and inhabit in grass full of sunshine, the edge of the forest and meadow near lake. Both males and females suck nectar from thistles, daisy fleabanes, cosmos, lysimachia clethroides and northeastern scabious. They lay their eggs near violets, its food plants. They survive winter as caterpillars.
